We are a school that likes to celebrate success – at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve.
We aim to bring learning alive, making it exciting and stimulating. We want to give our children a thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their future school experiences and lives. An essential ingredient for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture involving everyone- children, parents, staff, governors and the wider community.

Well done to this week’s Rainbow Readers!
Year One had some surprise community heroes visit today. Whilst the fire brigade were visiting another year group, we went out and had a look around their fire engine and talked to fire officer David about all the jobs Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) do to keep up safe. Thank you so much for all your hard work 🧯🧑🚒👩🚒🚒 here are a few photos from 1LO
The Reception children enjoyed harvesting the enormous pumpkin that has been growing in our growing bed. Planted last year by some other Great Wood children, we looked at how the vines had grown, cut the stalk and brought it into the classroom to admire. We plan on exploring the inside of the pumpkin next week and hope to eat some of it too!
